This morning started out with a tour of Coos Bay Oregon. We saw a 110 foot Coast Guard Cutter moored down town. We then continued the up the coast on 101. We made several stops along the way at state parks and played football on the beach after lunch. We saw a bunch of Sea Lions on a rock. We stopped at several Coast Guard Stations and active light houses. We even Saw the Umpaqua River Coast Guard doing some helicopter training. Sarah was glad to find a used book store so she could sell the ones she had finished and get some new ones. It was a great shop and there were lots of neat older stuff. The boys got some old mad books, Archie and Jughead cartoons, and yet more Hardy Boys. It could have gone on for hours but eventually it was time to move on. We arrived in Astoria around 5 pm and went to check in to the motel. We went out for some local fish at a place called the Rouge, they served great fish. In usual Wilbanks fashion, the kids finished their meals and promptly walked out still looking for more food. The heated pool was actually well heated and felt like bath water. Very nice. Tomorrow we will be staying near here and going to the Columbia River Maritime Museum and going into Washington to Cape Disappointment.
